There is an amazing number of Dahlia varieties! All of them drop-dead gorgeous. Here we have the Single Dahlia, a humble but equally beautiful variant.

Dahlias sure make luxurious cut flowers but thrive as potted plants too. Flowering for months, they inject color and drama wherever you grow them. Most dahlias bloom from mid-Summer through Autumn, so your container plants could be leafy green until bloom time.

Single Dahlias feature blooms with a single row of flat or slightly cupped ray florets. The disc flowers may have up to three rows of bright yellow or orange pollen and the blooms are over two inches in diameter. Pollinator enthusiasts love these Single-Flowered Dahlias! If you want to provide something special for bees, butterflies or other pollinating insects still active in late Summer, choose a Single Dahlia!

Care Guide

Light

Dahlias like the full sun, though don't like to get searingly hot. If placing indoors, keep your potted Dahlias near in bright diffused light, near a window. If outdoors, they'll be happy in a shady corner of the balcony.

Watering

A deep watering 2 to 3 times a week is enough. Be careful to water the soil and not the stems, keeping the soil about as damp as a well wrung-out sponge. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot.

How to Care for the Dahlia Recap:

  1. Bright Light: Bright but diffused light works best.

  2. Average Watering: Lightly water 2-3 times a week. Over watering will lead to rot.

  3. Warm Temperature: Warm temperatures are preferred. Not lower than 16°C.

  4. Feeding: Do not over-fertilize as that can risk low/ no blooms. Use low-nitrogen fertilizer every Summer month.
